On October 1st, 2025, South Korea will celebrate its 77th Armed Forces Day with a major commemorative event held at Gyeryongdae in South Chungcheong Province. 

Under the theme, "An Advanced, Strong Military with the People," this year's ceremony will be a testament to the enduring bond between the public and the armed forces. 

The event is a day to recognize and celebrate the dedication and sacrifice of the 5,000 military members and citizens in attendance.

On this day, the Republic of Korea Armed Forces heroically broke through the 38th parallel. 

This monumental achievement symbolized the military's unwavering commitment to defending the country. 

Today, Armed Forces Day continues to honor that spirit of courage and sacrifice, reminding all citizens of the crucial role the military plays in maintaining peace and security.

2. Inside the 77th Armed Forces Day Ceremony

The commemorative ceremony is structured around four main themes: "Celebrating with the People," "The People's Military," "An Advanced, Strong Military with the People," and "Listening to the Hearts of Our Soldiers". 

The celebration begins with a pre-ceremony show featuring a brand video about Armed Forces Day, traditional music performances by both military and civilian groups, demonstrations by the traditional and Armed Forces honor guards, and videos of public support.

The main ceremony is a formal and dignified affair, starting with the President's entrance. This is followed by a national salute, a military parade, a medal and award ceremony, and a commemorative address. 

After the main event, the celebration shifts to a series of dynamic and visually stunning performances, including a commemorative video, a combined civilian-military Taekwondo demonstration, and an aerial display. 

The highly skilled Air Force Black Eagles will also perform high-level aerobatics, showcasing their impressive precision and control.

Attendees will get to see state-of-the-art K-Defense (Korean defense industry) weapons systems that integrate artificial intelligence (AI) and other advanced technologies. 

This includes a public display of the Korean 3-Axis System, a crucial element of the nation's defense strategy. 

These showcases aren't just for show; they highlight the ongoing efforts to modernize the military and demonstrate the country's commitment to maintaining a robust, forward-thinking defense force.
